You Earned It – Keep It
Experts estimate that billions of frequent flier miles go unused, either due to neglect or because the miles expire after a certain date based on the provisions of an airline’s program. The same is true with other reward programs, like those offered by credit card companies.
To make sure you get the rewards you have earned, call each airline (or credit card company) or visit them online. Check out the specific eligibility requirements and expiration dates. If your rewards are about to expire, take action. If you don’t, you may not just be out a reward that didn’t cost you anything (like frequent flier miles); you also may be out a reward you received by owning a higher interest rate credit card, since reward cards are often more expensive than non-reward cards.
